When we pulled up, the place looked abandoned; the driveway was solid ice and hadn’t been plowed in at least two snowstorms, so my girlfriend fell on her face three steps from the car. The site was completely deserted with no maintenance or staff, and the stairs to the entrance were still unshoveled after weeks, making it a liability for the owner who clearly had no interest in the property. We drove hours for a birthday celebration with a great dinner in town, but instead of a welcoming venue we found a locked-up location with no management. When I called as we were leaving, the person said “all the places are like this.” The weekend celebration was ruined, and we had to drive home for hours.
