The location was spectacular, overlooking the Douro River with a nice balcony and pool. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the place was quiet and peaceful. The mattress, however, wasn’t very comfortable and could have been better.

The view was stunning, probably the biggest plus of the property, but overall the stay fell short of expectations. Communication was tough because the staff only spoke Portuguese, and check‑in was inflexible. We had told them we would arrive between 3 and 4 pm, but because we were traveling with a small child we couldn’t be more precise, yet they kept asking us to narrow the time. A bit more understanding would have helped. The kitchen and barbecue area, shown in the photos, can only be used if you rent the entire house, a restriction we only learned about right before arrival. There was no fridge or kettle in the room, which was inconvenient with a small child, especially since breakfast starts late. Breakfast itself was only for two adults, not a buffet; we received two pieces of cheese and two pieces of ham per person, and only two yogurts, even though the hosts knew we were traveling with a child. No extra portion was given for the child, though there were plenty of jams. It would have been better if the portions reflected everyone in the booking. We also spotted dog mess on the lawn that had been there for a while. The property itself is nice, but the atmosphere and guest treatment left us disappointed. Clearer notes on kitchen and barbecue restrictions, as well as breakfast format and portions, would help.

The site was good, but the staff were unfriendly, never smiling, and there were too many rules like in a nursery even though we were adults. There was a lack of human interest toward guests, and I felt forced to pay and not enjoy my rest.

The pool was amazing in summer, the bedding was very comfortable, the room was soundproof, and the bathroom was extremely clean. It was a pity that the person who welcomed us didn’t speak English.
