The place was clean, well‑priced, and the room was tidy, but we were promised gluten‑free options at breakfast and there were none; we had to look for alternatives in town.

The location lets you walk everywhere, the rooms are very comfortable, the breakfast is hearty and inexpensive, the place is quiet, and there’s a parking lot in front of the building.

We travelled by train and Meridon House is within walking distance of the station even with two large suitcases; the exterior of the house impressed us, reminding us of a famous song. The host was welcoming, the room was a bit small but still comfortable, and the bathroom was fine. We enjoyed a good breakfast with plenty of fresh choices. The only downside was that the room is on a steep staircase, which is a hassle with the big bags. Nothing else was an issue; it was all very good for us.

Check‑in was smooth, the place is easy to find, and it’s all walkable. Parking was a problem – we couldn’t find a spot, so we paid for parking in town for two days, about a half‑mile walk away.
