“Great hotel in a beautiful part of the world.”
The hotel is great – it’s a shame we only stayed one night. Nothing else to add.

The bed was the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in at any hotel. The breakfast was top‑quality, and the area is lovely. It was hard to find the entrance at night and unsure where to park. The overhead shower didn’t reach hot water, but we didn’t know it was broken until we mentioned it when checking out; the other shower in the bathroom worked fine. It’s a lovely hotel, but we might have spent more than usual just to relax after a concert.

The estate and gardens are spectacular, the property’s history is fascinating, the breakfast is luxurious, the location is excellent, the bed is probably one of the best I’ve slept in, and the girl who served us at breakfast and during check‑out was very friendly. The room was small, especially the bathroom and shower. Overall the bathroom needs a good renovation, and the shower is extremely uncomfortable and even dangerous because it’s slippery. There was a mat to prevent slipping, but it seemed unhygienic, so I didn’t use it; it should be replaced to avoid fall risks.

The hotel is charming and old, with a rich history. The bar staff were either not trained or couldn’t understand the drink order.

The old part of the house has a great location and layout, the décor is lovely, and the bedrooms are comfortable. The staff are all very pleasant, though a bit thin on the ground. The Bistro is a nice new idea for summer, but I can’t see guests wanting to go out in rain and snow just to dine. It’s a little cramped and not as comfortable as the internal dining room where breakfast is served. In winter, the internal dining room would be a much better choice for dinner too.
