“Perfect for solo travellers - highly recommend!”
This was my first hostel stay and I’m thrilled I chose NBH. The place is fully equipped and Satoshi looks after everyone who stays there. There were plenty of suggestions for activities and dining spots! I felt right at home chatting with other travelers, and it seemed Satoshi had thought of everything to keep us comfortable. The rooms were ideal and the beds were so cozy and clean. The bathrooms were very tidy and the shared lounge was great for relaxing. Bonus: free breakfast, Lawsons is literally a 10‑second walk away, and the train station connects you to everywhere. I loved staying here and will definitely return.
Satoshi is an excellent host! I really enjoyed chatting and celebrating the new year with everyone
Satoshi’s welcome, the friendly vibe of his small‑scale guesthouse with only three rooms opening onto a cozy living room, and even a little table in the bed cabin—highly recommended! The neighborhood is a bit off‑center but close to the very friendly Gotanda and the Togoshi Ginza street.
“Lovely owner, would stay again”
The staff were helpful, and they supplied useful info about the area and Japan, and the train access (a short walk, two options). They communicated before check‑in about the times. The only downside was the small common area.
“A stellar dorm experience made possible by an outstanding host.”
No Border Hostel (NBH) has become my favorite spot in Tokyo. You should definitely consider staying here! The basics are solid—the bed is comfy, and there’s surprisingly ample storage around the bed for your stuff. You can stash luggage under your bunk for easy access, which is rare in dorm‑style places like NBH. The shared bathroom and shower are always clean, as is the sink and kitchen area. The common area is cozy, and I was lucky to meet and talk to some great people from all over the world who were staying at the same time. Wifi was fast enough for large downloads and streaming. The neighborhood is fairly quiet, and NBH is right next to a bus stop that takes you to a JR station in two stops, plus several convenience stores around the alley, so it’s convenient to get around and grab what you need. The price per night is unbeatable compared to other places in Tokyo. What really sets NBH apart is the host—Satoshi. I’ve never had a bad experience with hotel or lodging staff in Japan. I’ve met good hosts and a few great ones, but I’ll never find another like Satoshi (Ash). He’s kind, approachable, and highly professional. His attentiveness and warmth make him a pleasure to talk to, and I’m grateful he went out of his way to help and accommodate me before, during, and even after my stay. He’s also very knowledgeable about traveling in Japan, so I recommend guests at NBH talk with him for destination ideas and advice. It’s clear he takes great care of NBH, which shows throughout the facilities. I look forward to staying at NBH the next time I’m in Tokyo. I have nothing but praise, respect, and appreciation for Satoshi and wish him all the best.
