The place was clean and well located for getting to my destination. I hadn’t read the early‑check‑in policy carefully and was stressed, but the staff handled it nicely, and they also kindly pointed me to a dinner spot. The front desk isn’t staffed continuously; although they helped with checkout, I had to leave the key in a lockbox and couldn’t arrange luggage delivery because no one was at reception. The window facing the outside only has a shoji‑type screen, so street lights spill in at night and the early dawn brightness wakes you up quickly; a blackout curtain would have been better.

I loved being close to Akō Castle and having plenty of night‑time eateries to explore, and the breakfast in the morning was tasty as well. The only downside was that even on a gentle breeze the air‑conditioner was noisy, waking me up several times at night.
