“Wonderful sleep, brutalist view”

The superior twin room had such comfy beds that I slept even better than at home! I liked the wallpaper, the super helpful staff, and the wonderful breakfast – good value overall. However, many if not all rooms are below street level. Our view was pretty brutal: railway tracks and the main bus station. I like trains, but not everyone does. The floorplan of the accommodation floor is a maze! Please put signs like “staircase to Reception opposite room 310” or something. We both got lost because the prank‑like signage pointed to nothing at all. Not ideal if you’re catching a train or a meeting.

Honestly, nothing about this frightening hotel pleased us at all! We’d even consider giving it “zero” points, but that’s not possible. Because of good reviews, we booked a four‑day stay at Hotel Kungsbron near Stockholm’s main train station. The central elevator was broken, not just when we arrived but already before. It was packed with items, forcing us to carry luggage down the stairs to the basement. On the first night at 05:30 am, there was a fire alarm. The bell in the room was deafening; it turned out to be a false alarm, but the night ended that way. You don’t want to be woken up like that in the morning! We later noticed that guests only came from the basement, so presumably all rooms were there. The hotel’s corridors felt more like a cruise ship, and yes, there were truly windowless rooms. If those rooms even deserve the word “room”… Our windowed room resembled more a storage closet. The room itself was a total shock. The worst hotel room we’ve ever booked! A sheet of paper on the room said the bedding was not the usual quality because the hot water system was broken. That was the smallest annoyance. You can’t open a window. There is only a forced ventilation that can’t be regulated. There is no way to unpack your luggage. No wardrobe, no storage compartments. Your suitcase only fits on the desk, which you have to pull away from the wall to use. The room is so small that you have to occupy the “Queen‑Size Bed” (soft, worn mattress) one after the other. The bed is bordered on one side by the room window and on the other side by the walls. You can only leave in one direction. One guest sleeps directly against the wall. If he needs to go to the toilet at night, he inevitably wakes the other. When showering (shower curtain), the bathroom inevitably gets flooded. The bathroom has no outlet! You can’t plug in a toothbrush, razor, or hair dryer. No storage in the bathroom. If you look for other outlets in the room, there are two free outlets near the floor, right next to the door. To plug in a charger near the table, you have to crawl under the desk and unplug other devices. You would have had to do this even if you wanted to use the kettle in the room. A free outlet within easy reach for the guest? Nonexistent! The price of 185,00 EUR per night is completely overpriced and inappropriate for this absolutely uncomfortable, stuffy mini‑room. The reviews we found (fake?) don’t match the reality we experienced. You feel ripped off. Such a room should not be offered to guests today.
