“A stressful and unsafe experience that I would not recommend, especially for solo travelers.”

There was hardly anything positive; everything else was eclipsed by how the hotel dealt with a serious guest access problem. I returned around 9 PM the first night and found the gate locked. I was never given a key or any instructions for entering after hours, even though I showed my reservation and room key. I had to wait outside in the dark for 15–20 minutes before being let in, which was unacceptable and made me feel unsafe. A hotel should never leave a paying guest locked out at night.

The view from the room, the storage space, the balcony, and the beach access were all great. However, there was no staff available late at night to provide water bottles, so the service could use improvement.

I spent ten nights in April and May at Tahini and Friends, staying in the upstairs rooms that were clean, functional, and offered a lovely ocean view. Downstairs, there was a kitchen and a work area that felt perfect for a digital nomad, and near the beach a relaxed spot for meals, drinks, or just chilling by the sea—plus turtle watching at high tide near the back stairs. The food was fresh, homemade, and prepared with care, while the staff were so friendly it felt like home. Surfing was a highlight with direct access to several beginner‑to‑intermediate breaks, and the yoga sessions, complete with ocean sounds, were led by an experienced Yogi. The only downside was the traffic noise on the street side of the property, but it didn’t bother me and even reminded me how close the place was to transport. I had to leave because the place felt like home.

The location was amazing, and the patio by the ocean was nice; the room had everything I needed. However, the bathroom leaked and had a bad smell, and on the second night a random party—unannounced—ended at 10 pm. Yoga wasn’t included, though guests received a 20 % discount. Overall, it felt a bit too expensive for what you get.
