The people and team were great, and the spa was fantastic. The only downside was the small, dark room.

The lodge sits on a beautiful piece of land and is impressive; the room was very nice and spacious, and there are great hikes and walks right on the doorstep. The staff were friendly and helpful, though the dinner food style feels a bit dated, which I think fits the lodge’s vibe. Breakfast was very good. Overall, it’s a great place to stay if cost isn’t an issue.

This place is phenomenal. The food is great, the staff are attentive and work hard to make things personally special for guests, and the property itself is unreal with so many trails to explore and a beautiful waterfall exclusive to the property—only wish we’d stayed longer! I would recommend staying on the property; we originally planned excursions but ended up loving the place so much we just stayed and hiked.

I expected the surroundings to be wonderful, deep in the New Zealand bush, and Treetops certainly didn’t disappoint. I felt like I was miles from civilisation even though Rotorua’s attractions are not very far and easily accessible. The pictures didn’t do justice to the hotel itself; everything was beautifully and thoughtfully appointed. The food was outstanding, the service perfect, and the staff friendly and efficient—a dream combination. I loved it and there was nothing I didn’t like!

The lodge looked a little tired and in need of some maintenance and updating, but that’s a minor comment; we loved our stay there and would return.
