The laundry machine in the residence is convenient. No negatives.

This is probably one of the best hotels we’ve stayed at, although we hit several snags. The two‑bedroom suite is ideal for a large family, which is why we skipped Kempinski. We kept the bedroom doors open and the main door locked for convenience. The balcony is great; you can watch the sunrise and sunset over the sea. The food was generally good and safe, especially at Karang. One staff member, whose first name starts with LO, is fantastic—he speaks Chinese, Korean, English, and Japanese, is very entertaining, and his food recommendations were spot‑on. He pays great attention to detail and gave enough snacks for the five of us; some other places only give four, so we had to split one snack. To'Ge is another solid spot, especially for picky eaters, and it’s the only place where everyone was happy because it offers a wide variety of dishes. The only culinary gripe: Hainanese chicken is best with thighs, but it’s still the top flavor. We didn’t like Padi, and when we ordered the same dish twice the staff said nothing. Scusa has the highest prices but the food isn’t great. Most staff are lovely, but a couple of housekeeping incidents bothered us—one cleaner didn’t respond when I greeted him, and another rolled her eyes at me. We were also worried about food and water safety in Bali, but the hotel food turned out safe. An AI we consulted told us to brush our teeth and wash our face with bottled water and only drink bottled water to avoid “Bali belly.” A concierge had warned us that they could only deliver 8 bottles of mineral water per day, so we had to lug our suitcases around to get more right after the flight. It would be nice if “Bali belly” wasn’t such a constant worry; no one wants to spend a holiday dealing with diarrhoea and vomiting. The hotel food and pool are safe, and we stuck to bottled water and drinks. After check‑in we realised the mineral water delivery was inconsistent, sometimes only 3 bottles, which was annoying to keep asking for. Other hotels have a water station in the corridor where guests can take it themselves. Another small issue was my booking name: I used my preferred name, which is accepted everywhere I go, but it caused a fuss at the hotel. I was told at check‑in to change to my legal name. I’d just gotten off a 6‑hour flight from 3 am and didn’t want to spend my holiday talking about that. I don’t see why it matters, as I paid the full amount and have a valid ID. The tram system isn’t ideal for families; when coming out of Rimba it’s already full and impossible to fit in. We previously rented a buggy on Hamilton Island and explored the whole island. I would gladly pay more for a buggy here just to enjoy the resort more. It’s a shame there are many pools and great places I didn’t see because of this. Finally, the credit card policy was a minor annoyance. Elsewhere they only want my card details, not to hold funds. I don’t like that policy because I prefer to spend money on my holidays without constantly being reminded of how much I’m spending. The main point of a holiday is to stay happy and not be told we have to hold more money on the card because we’re exceeding the initial amount. If they don’t respond, they’ll do it anyway. Why bother telling me then?

We loved it – the room was comfortable, every restaurant in the resort served great food, each pool was clean and beautiful, breakfast was delicious, and both kids and parents had a blast. The Rock Bar was amazing, especially watching the sunset; it was truly gorgeous, and we’ll definitely be back.
