The place is a budget spot but the price‑to‑quality is spot on. The rooms are simple but spotless, and the staff keep the bathrooms stocked with soap, tea, coffee and bottled water every day. Even though everyone speaks only Chinese, the translators on hand make communication painless, and the Wi‑Fi is solid. The taxi to the airport costs about 100 yuan and takes 30‑40 minutes, and you’re just a five‑minute walk from a bus stop, a grocery store, a fruit shop and a café.

I’ve stayed in hotels all over the world and usually find a decent place, but this Harbin spot was a nightmare. The rooms were filthy and I had to leave before the end of my stay, so I booked elsewhere. The staff refunded me in full, which was a relief, but the cheap price doesn’t make up for the mess.

The bed was comfy and the pillows soft, and the layout with a living room and bedroom plus two bathrooms made it feel spacious. The TV, kettle and hairdryer were handy, and the windows looked out away from the street. The staff were diligent, taking out the trash and leaving two bottles of water each day. The only downside was the lack of a Russian channel and a fridge, but for the price it’s still a solid choice.
