“Ein tolles Hotel auf sehr hohem Niveau, mit ein wenig Luft nach oben, die aber eher als Potenzial zur Perfektion zu vers”
The Wiesenhof is a name that lives up to itself. From the moment I arrived at about 23:00, I was welcomed warmly. The friendliness of the entire staff is worth noting – wherever you are in the hotel, you’re greeted kindly and feel that the employees genuinely want to help. It’s clear the Wiesenhof is still family‑run. Breakfast leaves no room for wishes: a beautiful, varied selection that feels fresh and regional. Various omelettes, a wide range of sausages and cheeses that the staff slice fresh on request, plus fruit, vegetables, and the option to build your own salad. That’s how the day starts. The wellness area is amazing. The Finnish outdoor sauna is great, the pool is simply fantastic. Pure luxury is the separated pool area for children – a really good idea. Even though I spent a lot of time in the wellness area, it was never crowded. Towels, water, and a great selection of teas were always available. Here you can truly forget time and just relax. The fitness area also impressed me. New Technogym equipment and a setup that feels almost like a full‑scale gym. A beautifully designed area with a panoramic view outside. Even while working out you feel comfortable. Non‑electric bicycles are free to use, for example for a ride around the lake. The outdoor area with terrace and bar is very pleasant and invites you to linger, plus very friendly bar staff. Overall, there’s always something to discover on the various floors of the hotel.
The following points are meant as constructive suggestions and definitely high‑level criticism. The overall excellent impression of the hotel is not diminished for me. At breakfast, you could perhaps add high‑quality fresh oils, sea salt, a pepper mill, and fresh lemon juice to the already great salad and fruit bar. Especially when you’re assembling your own salad, fresh basil or other herbs would be a nice addition and would round off the offer perfectly. My room, number 320, was not exactly to my taste visually and still carried a bit of 90s charm. I did notice that many rooms have already been beautifully modernised. In my next stay I will book a Zirben room, so that this little “problem” will be solved for me. Perhaps room 320 will also be renovated by then. The opening hours of the sauna area felt a bit short to me personally. After a busy day it’s especially nice to be able to enjoy the quiet and warmth of a sauna in the evening. At that time the sauna area is already closed. A slightly longer opening time in the evening would be a great addition to an otherwise really excellent wellness offering. One area where I see real improvement potential is the room doors, at least in my room. Here there is still a classic lock system with a key and no modern card opening. If you want to go for a walk at night, you have to bring the relatively large key to get back into the house after 23:30. In addition, the sound insulation of the door is an issue. In the morning I was woken by the sound of a neighbour locking his door. The noise was so clear that it sounded like he was standing right next to me.
