“Would not recommend”

We wouldn’t recommend this place. Just before we arrived, a message told us the hostel was closed due to nearby construction, yet our booking wasn’t cancelled. Only after we asked for details did they say it was open, with no explanation. Throughout our stay, communication was nonexistent; the hosts didn’t speak English and didn’t try to help, leaving us feeling unwelcome.

The hostel keeps itself clean. I booked a local room for four people on the website. Check‑in went smoothly, but the room lacked a lock, which I thought was why the price was low. When I returned from the city that evening, I found another person in my room. The only option the hostel offered was a refund, and it was already midnight. Also, there is no kitchen and you can’t make tea in the morning.

I really enjoyed staying here, partly because I had the whole big room to myself—there were no other female guests. The gentleman at reception kindly gave me the room since I’d booked a mixed dorm, so I appreciated the extra privacy. He also helped me fend off an aggressive taxi driver who demanded an unreasonable fare for a short ride. I felt very safe as a solo woman traveler and would recommend it.

It’s very close to the airport, and a short walk gets you to Rudaki Street. The staff were polite and hospitable.
