“Don’t stay if traveling alone.”
The location. As a single woman, I did not feel safe staying here. The door and lock felt extremely flimsy, which was especially concerning given the location and the overall condition of the property. There were also several things that I feel should have been clearly disclosed in the listing. The pet fee was not mentioned at the time of booking and was brought up right before check-in, which felt very misleading. The train tracks are literally directly behind the building, and trains came through every 30–45 minutes, 24 hours a day. The noise was loud enough to either wake you up or scare the crap out of you. The sheets were stained, and there was no effective way to block out the light, so the room was bright as soon as the sun came up. On top of that, the heater in the room did not work, and there was nobody onsite to contact for help or to address the issue. Being in a room with no working heat and no one available to assist was extremely frustrating and uncomfortable. Honestly, this was the type of place that reminded me of every scary movie you’ve ever seen involving a roadside motel—and unfortunately, this was the real-life version. I hate to leave such a negative review for a family-owned property, but there were simply too many important details left out of the listing that I believe future guests deserve to know before booking. I would not stay here again, and I would strongly encourage anyone considering this property to carefully weigh these issues before booking
