The place sits in a nice spot with plenty of space inside and around the house and the pool. Everything feels old, smells stale, and several facilities are really outdated – the showers are hand‑held, the kitchen is old and not very clean, the washing machine is in a dirty, cluttered room, and the barbecues are rusted.

“Traumhaftes Anwesen mit tollem Pool und Weitblick!”

The Quinta (Herrenhaus) has been in family hands for 500 years and is simply a dream. Every room is lovingly furnished with antique pieces and tastefully decorated. Each bedroom has its own bathroom and a toilet with a bidet that has a separate door. In the rooms with thick walls it stayed cool despite the summer heat, and the large pool overlooking the charming little town of Arouca and the mountains was great for swimming, after which you can relax on a lounge chair under the shade of an old tree. The kitchen comes stocked with plenty of dishes, a toaster, microwave, coffee machine, etc. We also found it very handy that there is a second fridge, which we used to keep drinks cold. The huge garden is a flower paradise and you can choose to dine outside in the courtyard (there are also two grills there) or in the dining room with an impressive fireplace. For cars there is a shaded parking spot in the garage. Near the undercroft is one of the longest pedestrian suspension bridges in the world. During our Portugal trip this was by far the most beautiful accommodation. Highly recommended!
