The hosts are lovely. We had visited the place three years ago while touring UNESCO sites in the city, and it was perfect for a night in nature on the true Italian countryside. The owner, an architect, has kept the interior simple yet interesting. We returned this year when we needed a place to crash on our way back from traveling Italy. There's a cuddly cat named Pimpu. The owner makes breakfast by hand and is understanding when people from north of the Alps ask for something other than the typical sweet Italian breakfast. But for those who love sweets, the host bakes cakes. They also give you great tips for Mantova restaurants nearby.
