The location was great and the breakfast was good. We ordered the fondue menu (portion of dried meat, fondue, and dessert). Unfortunately the dessert was not served, so the fondue menu felt a bit pricey at CHF 48.00 per person. The fondue itself was creamy and tasty.

The welcome and the hotel’s location in the centre of Gruyères were excellent. There was a persistent cheese smell in the restaurant and on the floors (but thankfully not in the rooms). Still, it’s Gruyères and its fondues.

The location right in the historic town of Gruyère is really great. All sights (castle, museums, walking paths, great restaurants) are within walking distance. On the day of arrival we were told to check in before 5 p.m. The restaurant closed shortly after, and the staff claimed that every other restaurant in Gruyère was also closed that evening (Do, 08.10.26). They suggested we drive to Bulle and gave us a specific place. In reality most other restaurants in Gruyère were open that night, so we could have eaten locally without driving to Bulle.

The hotel sits right in the heart of Gruyère Village, which is great. The TV remote didn’t work properly, so I couldn’t turn the volume down.
