Hisham and his family were wonderful hosts; they kindly packed a lunchbox for my safari trip and I slept soundly in the calm, basic but very clean room. Hisham’s sister does amazing pottery, having learned the craft from Evelyn Porret. I highly recommend this place, though there was no wi‑fi.

The place sits in a nice spot and the surroundings are pleasant, and it’s quite tidy. The lack of a heater made it chilly, though.

The location was wonderful – the town itself and the hotel were both great. I’m glad I came, just wish it had lasted more than one night. After the tour we spent the afternoon at the hotel, enjoying the calm atmosphere. The room was spacious enough and the beds were comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were delicious, all fresh local fare, and we ordered them on site. Hissam arranged a transfer from Cairo and back, and also organized tours tailored to our preferences at a good price; we had agreed on everything during the booking and he kept his word. The air‑conditioner didn’t work, but we only noticed it at night and didn’t bother the staff – maybe the batteries just needed replacing. Our room had neither a wardrobe nor even simple shelves, which was inconvenient.

This was the best place we’ve stayed in Egypt. It’s a short walk from many pottery shops, and the hotel even has its own workshop with lovely pieces. We took a pottery class and got to keep what we made. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. We booked a safari through the hotel, which was fantastic and affordable. The real highlight was the family’s kindness – everyone was thoughtful and made sure we had an amazing time.

The breakfast and lunch were fresh and excellent. The room was clean and tidy. The hosts were wonderful people and we loved them from the moment we saw them.
