The location is convenient, with easy access to Algonquin Park and the forest offering magical views at this time of year, yet because we booked only two nights, our rooms weren’t cleaned, towels and sheets weren’t changed, and beds weren’t made; apparently this service is automatic only for three nights and above, so we had to ask at check‑in.

The staff at Deerhurst were excellent, but we booked a room with two queen beds and a balcony, expecting a Summit or Palvilion room. At check‑in we were given a Bayshore room without a balcony, so my wife requested a walk‑out balcony. The team moved us to a Palvilion room in the other building for an extra $146.90. They didn’t disclose the full details of our booking, so we ended up with a king‑size bed and the $146.90 surcharge instead of the two queens we had planned.

The buffet breakfast and the carvery dinners were fabulous, but we were a bit surprised to find the Maple Pub closed on Monday night, which limited our dining options to Compass. More variety would have been appreciated.
