“The best breakfast - and pillows - we had in a month in Switzerland!”
The spot is super handy, right next to Grindelwald Terminal station, so everything in the area is a quick hop away. Breakfast was excellent—a wide array of local produce that the staff kept replenishing efficiently. We liked having separate spots to work or lounge, plus the dining hall’s view of the Eiger. The beds were comfy and the pillows were the best we found during a whole month in Switzerland! The locker key‑and‑lock system was a real headache; almost everyone in our dorm had trouble locking and unlocking. At a previous hostel in Interlaken, the room key‑card worked the locker lock, which was a breeze. Eiger Lodge should consider a similar system. Also, towels should be included with the room price—this is the only hostel I’ve stayed at that didn’t provide them for free.

The location is fine. For some reason I felt uneasy during the stay because I booked a 6‑bed dorm but was assigned to an 8‑bed dorm.

The location is spot on, close to Grindelwald Terminal for trains, buses, and cable cars. Breakfast was pleasant, with big windows that let you watch the mountains rise with the sun. I appreciated that the shared dorm rooms had a sink and mirror, so you didn’t have to walk down the corridor to brush your teeth. The bathroom and shower were clean all the time. The beds were huge and comfortable, and lockers in the dorm kept valuables safe. Don’t miss the terrace upstairs; I’m surprised more people didn’t show up—there are lounge chairs to relax and enjoy the view. The only downside is that the central location might not satisfy those who want a more natural feel right in the hotel; the streets around are less scenic. They promised vegan options at breakfast, but all we got was margarine and oat milk.
