We liked being able to toss carrots to the farm animals and the firewood was already stacked, which made the evenings feel cozy. The only drawback was the tiny bathroom – four of us had to squeeze into one small toilet and a single bathtub. Bring your own carrots or apples if you want to feed the critters, and aim for a weekend stay if you’re after the tractor tour and restaurant service, since those aren’t available on weekdays.

The place was gorgeous, spotless and nicely decorated, and the hosts gave off a relaxed, friendly vibe. The bathroom felt a bit tight, which was a minor annoyance. Because of the no‑shoes‑inside rule we kept our shoes in a corner, wishing there’d been a proper shoe cabinet.
