“A pleasant stay, comfortable, clean, good value”
The place was clean, had good value, and the location was great. The stairs were a problem for me because of mobility issues.

The room was lovely, the bed comfy, everything well presented. The bathroom and shower were amazing, hot water with good pressure. The cleaners knocked politely to check entry and left the room as if freshly arrived. The TV had YouTube and Netflix, and the Wi‑Fi was great.

The room was spacious and luxurious with a great sea view, and the bed was comfortable. It was the house where Benjamin Britten grew up, but the entrance felt gloomy and unwelcoming—no staff there, just a blue plaque outside. We expected more nods to the composer; instead the rooms were only named after various composers, which was a disappointment. Breakfast wasn’t offered, but the Thatch restaurant opposite served an excellent one, though you’ll need to add about £15 to your nightly rate.

The view of the sea from the room was nice. No staff were seen during the four days. There was no breakfast or soft drinks, only tea‑and‑coffee facilities in the room. The bathroom and bed were not modern.

The hotel and proprietor were exceptionally helpful, professional and kind. The chrome fixtures in the end suite were dented and rusty, and the shower glass door was black‑mouldy and clearly needed replacement. Cobwebs were on the ceiling.
