“Room large and comfortable. Location very good.”
Breakfast was decent, but the room needed a bit more heating.

The staff were lovely and the decor was traditional, which made the experience pleasant.

We only stayed one night, and it was super convenient for getting to our friends in Belper. The welcome pack was lovely, and they even gave us two dog bowls for our working cocker spaniel Cocoa, which felt like a thoughtful touch—many dog‑friendly spots I’ve visited don’t offer treats or bowls at all. The beds were very comfortable, though the dog‑friendly rooms sat away from the main building, tucked around a covered courtyard that felt a little dark.

The staff were good, but the overall vibe felt very tired.

The location was excellent for exploring Derbyshire, and the dining room was lovely with good evening meals. We stayed in a Court Yard that was separate from the main hotel, and the staff were all friendly and eager to help. The alternative dining room used on our first night lacked atmosphere, and the staircase to rooms 3 & 4 needed a thorough clean, which we pointed out to the staff.
