Darlene was very flexible and helpful, even making breakfast for us at 7; if you’re using it as a base for the ferry, consider staying two nights—Nanaimo is nicer than I expected, and it’s also a good launch point for exploring that side of the island.

The owner was extremely helpful and the breakfast was plentiful. It was great to chat with locals from the places we visit, and the room was very comfortable with a fantastic view.

The hostess greeted us warmly and the place feels cozy, with lovely furnishings and a fresh breakfast that included fruit, eggs, and muffins. The garden is beautiful, though the location feels a bit out of the way.
