The place is charming and historic. I ordered fish and chips, and the cocktails were a good deal during the week. Breakfast was nice but the toaster was too small. The bedroom had a four‑poster bed that didn’t fit the room; a larger bed with a nice headboard would be better. The carpet and blackout blinds need new ones, and the shower room requires a full overhaul—new tiles and a walk‑in shower would help. I asked for an extra pillow but only got one; two pillows are needed on the bed. The room needs TLC and a designer touch. It’s an old hotel, but with the right design it could be beautiful.

The George is a lovely, quirky old pub in a pretty village and a quiet spot. The staff were all very friendly and efficient. Harry, the manager, was very helpful and friendly; he gave us great directions to a place we wanted to visit after we had gotten lost on a hot day, and we found it without a problem. Our room was very comfortable and clean, with a nice view over the garden. Because it was hot, we spent a lot of time in the beer garden, which was nicely shaded with plenty of benches, tables, and chairs. Breakfasts and evening meals were excellent with good choices; breakfast had a buffet style option as well as lovely cooked hot options. I would definitely stay again. It’s an old pub, maybe a bit of refreshing up in parts, but nothing major.

Breakfast was fantastic. The menu offered various choices, including full cooked breakfast, eggs Benedict, eggs royale, etc. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The shower room was a little tired and could use a refresh.

A beautiful old inn in a quiet, pretty village. We were so pleased to find a large car park upon arrival, which is always a concern when choosing a place to stay on our travels. The food was delicious, both at dinner and breakfast. The staff were very welcoming. We had an extra charge on our dinner bill, which surprised us. We were told it was VAT, but there was no wording about it on the menu. We would prefer greater transparency about this. I mentioned this in private feedback to the restaurant two weeks ago, but have had no response. The pull cord for the light in the bathroom was stained; maybe it could be replaced.
