“Ticked all the boxes”

The art‑deco hotel by the canal was lovely, breakfast offered plenty of options with eggs cooked to order and French toast, free cheese from 4‑6 pm and a complimentary bar were nice extras, and the spot was great for walking to many restaurants; staff were friendly and helpful, and there was a lift. However, weekend maintenance was lacking—there was a toilet issue that went unresolved for three days and the coffee machine at breakfast was out of order for several days. The rooms were cozy but not what I expected in Amsterdam; only a coffee machine was provided, no tea (I’m a Brit, what can I say), yet the staff kindly gave us a kettle.

The spot was great, right in the city center and within walking distance of all the sights. The open‑bar buffet had nice drinks, and the cheese and wine tastings were decent.
