“Nice one night stay”
The family running the place were wonderful and did everything they could for us. They met us at the station and gave us a tuk‑tuk to the property, which is about a 40‑minute ride up in the hills for 1500 rupees. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and a mosquito net was supplied. The family cooked a tasty, generous curry for dinner. The next morning they arranged a tuk‑tuk to the bus station in Tangalle. Unfortunately, the property is not as described: it isn’t a one‑bedroom house with a separate living room and kitchen; it’s just a room with a bathroom down the corridor, no hot water for the sink or shower, and we were charged extra for air conditioning even though it was listed in the room price. Despite these issues, the stay was enjoyable for the single night before heading to Bundala, and I’d recommend it for a quiet hilltop retreat.
