A new purpose‑built hotel that is very nicely appointed and convenient for hiking in the area; breakfast was excellent, the hotel is often busy so book ahead, parking is plentiful, the mini‑bar is fairly priced and restocked daily; the only downside is that Arouca itself is about 20 minutes away and not much there, and the closest recommended dinner restaurant is about 15 minutes away.

The views from the room were phenomenal, especially at sunset and sunrise. It feels like a slow‑living spot, just a short walk from the main points of Serra da Freita. Breakfast offered a wide variety of products.
