“Empleado muy mal educado.”
The cleaning was fine. The staff member I spoke to didn’t know what the PIN from Booking was for and immediately got defensive, saying Booking had nothing to do with the hostel. I mentioned that my partner might come the next night (there were no double rooms listed, even though I searched for them), and he said I’d have to pay an extra 15€, the price of a double. I agreed. The next day I arrived at 12:30 am (Sunday midnight) with my partner, and while we were settling in he knocked twice on the door—he was the receptionist—and, without any greeting, told me in a somewhat angry tone that I still had to pay the 15€ as he’d said. I told him that wasn’t how it was, that I wasn’t refusing, that if that was the case I would need a double room. To avoid more trouble I said I’d pay, and he tried to force me to pay in cash right there in the hallway. I refused and said I’d pay by card so it would be recorded; he looked angry again, grabbed the card reader, and I paid. My take: 1) He was rude. 2) He shouldn’t have confronted me at 12:30 am in my room, when I could have paid the next morning like any other place. 3) No one can be forced to pay a specific way. 4) If he finally charged me for a double room, I didn’t get a double room (it was a 1.05 cm bed), and my partner didn’t get shower towels, etc. 5) The worst part: we didn’t make any noise at the entrance, we were careful not to wake other guests, and I still don’t know if the way they watched us was through some camera, supposedly for security, for the hotel (this is an opinion/deduction, not an accusation).
