The original part had some charm, as did the gardens. The renovation was done in a way that feels dated quickly, there were few charging points and none near the bed, and breakfast was lackluster.

The hotel is wonderful. Its location is superb, with parking available, and the staff are extremely attentive and helpful. The breakfast is full and very tasty, with very fresh products. The hotel sits next to the Botanical Garden and close to Igreja Nossa Senhora do Monte, the descent of the baskets, and the final stop of the Monte cable car. The hotel’s balconies offer panoramic views of Funchal below the Monte, an amazing, must-see spot. The facilities welcome guests with flavored water at reception, always fresh, which is very charming. The silence leads to contemplation and meditation at any moment. We loved it.

Mooie ligging, ruime kamers, lekker ontbijt. Gied met de gondel vanuit de stad te bereiken maar niet in de avond. Beetje grote ruimtes waardoor minder gezellig. Hele klus om vanaf de stad naar boven naar het bergdorp te rijden

Good location, right next to the cable car station and Monte tropical gardens. Decent free parking. Breakfast was good, selection of hot and cold foods. Staff were all very friendly. Welcome drink on arrival. Only negative about the room was no electric sockets near the bed
