“The room was adequate, breakfast good but not value for money”

The location in a lovely village was great, easy to reach by bus and perfect for exploring nearby areas. Breakfast featured locally sourced food and I could eat as much as I wanted. Some issues: the curtains were stuck on the rail and held back by a tie‑back, the room had three single beds and felt cramped, the bathroom extractor fan didn’t work, the hot tap on the basin was broken and the taps moved around, and no hairdryer was provided.

Nice room, great breakfast, friendly staff. The pillows weren’t to my liking – but everyone has their own preferences.

Excellent breakfast and a nice breakfast room. The restaurant should open in the evening instead of forcing guests to go next door to eat.

“Lovely old hotel with great breakfast but needs window maintenance!”

Lovely rooms, very well appointed, and great breakfast. My window jammed open and couldn’t be shut; the bolt was stuck. I rang the reception bell five times around 8 pm with no response, so I had to stuff the gap with towels to keep out cool air and traffic. It was a shame because the building is lovely but the price for one night for two rooms was huge, especially since there was absolutely nowhere else to be found this week on the coast – a real let down.

“2 night stay in comfortable hotel.”

Pleasant hotel on the edge of town opposite the castle. Comfy beds, a good shower in a large room, and a good breakfast that included Craister kippers. All good.
