We were exhausted and drenched after biking in the rain, yet the staff welcomed us warmly; we enjoyed a fantastic dinner at the restaurant, especially the remarkable pumpkin soup, and the castle view was breathtaking. I just wish there had been an extra pillow on the bed, though that might just be my preference.

The sunrise view of the opposite old town with the castle was spectacular, the dining, including the outdoor restaurant, was good, but the 1/4‑hour walk to Burghausen wasn’t a big deal.

We were greeted warmly, the location was great and the road signs made getting there easy. Breakfast was fine, and the on‑site restaurant had friendly staff and tasty food. However, a broken TV in our room remained unrepaired despite several visits from the house manager and the caretaker, and no replacement was offered even though other rooms were empty; a request for a discount was met with a cold, indifferent refusal.
