Excellent location

The location is ideal for a Cape Town weekend getaway: far enough from the waterfront to be inexpensive and quiet, yet close enough that an Uber ride takes no more than 4 or 5 minutes. Owner Raymond was very helpful and a pleasure to be around. The room was immaculate, the self‑catering area had everything we needed, and the fresh ground coffee and small tub of rusks were a nice touch. We also parked a full‑size Land Rover Defender with roof rack and expedition gear securely. Excellent value!

The location is great and safe for walks, and the owners provided an electric blanket that made a big difference when the temperature drops during winter.

I stayed in a room that had no food, but the facilities were more than enough and the bed was super comfy. The winter sheets meant I didn’t need a heater, yet Mark mentioned his room felt cold and needed extra heating—probably because his larger room isn’t attached to the house, unlike mine. Raymond and Barbara were very friendly and invited us over for a chat and drinks one night. The location is ideal for anyone wanting to be in and around Rondebosch, and it’s very private and secure. The only downside was that the hosts’ TV sound could be heard in my room; it didn’t keep me up, but a lighter sleeper might find it annoying. Mark also felt uneasy about the gardener eating and drinking on “our” patio during breaks, seeing it as an invasion of our personal space if we wanted to use it. I’m not sure what alternative could work, but other guests might also find that intrusive.
