The buffet breakfast was good and plentiful, and they even offered to make a fresh soft egg. For us hikers, starting at 6:30 h was convenient to reach the mountains early. A hair dryer would have been nice.

Joe gave us a warm welcome, and the balcony room had a lovely view of the garden. We met his wife too—what a welcoming couple. We chilled on the terrace with a beer, then walked into the village for dinner. We chose the Italian spot, Romana, and it was delicious. Sleep was great, and breakfast was generous and well prepared. The only downside was that there was no way to grab a drink at the hotel after dark. Still, we’d come back next year.
