We met Abu and his family and had a wonderful stay. The guesthouse sits nicely on Elephantine Island, quiet, no cars or horns! Perfect for unwinding after days in Cairo, for example.

Abu welcomed us with exceptional warmth, staying attentive to our needs from picking us up in his boat upon arrival to giving us a sunset Nile walk, and even preparing a takeaway lunch for Abu Simbel without us asking. We enjoyed Aswan a lot, thanks in large part to staying here. Breakfast was delicious and the room was spotless, thanks to the staff. The location is fantastic—sleeping on an island in the middle of the Nile, surrounded by ancient temple ruins, reachable only by boat, priceless.

We spent two nights at Abu Nubian Guest House on Elephantine Island in Aswan and it felt more like staying with family than a guest house. Abu and his family cared for us wonderfully, ensuring we felt comfortable and welcomed all the time. The rooms were clean and comfy, and we were greeted with a delicious welcome drink. We especially liked the lunch and dinner options; if you’re exhausted after a long day, just ask them to prepare a meal and serve it right in your room—a thoughtful, convenient touch. Abu’s hospitality and readiness to help with everything was what made the experience special. We had originally planned to book excursions elsewhere, but Abu arranged them for us at better prices. We visited Abu Simbel, and because the vans leave very early, Abu went out of his way to prepare breakfast for us at 3:45 a.m. and made sure it reached our driver. That small gesture showed how caring he is. He also arranged our trip to the Nubian Village at a very reasonable price. When it was time to travel from Aswan to Luxor, we considered the train, but Abu booked a van for us at a cheaper rate than the train fare. The trip stopped at Kom Ombo and Edfu temples before a direct transfer to our hotel in Luxor, making the journey easier and letting us see more along the way. Abu was always helpful, honest, and genuinely interested in ensuring we had a great experience. His hospitality, flexibility, and attention to detail made our stay in Aswan truly memorable. We’re incredibly grateful to Abu and his lovely family for everything they did. If you’re planning a visit to Aswan, we wholeheartedly recommend Abu Guest House.

“More than a guesthouse — a warm and genuinely caring host who made our trip unforgettable”

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Abu Nubian Guest House. I rarely meet a host as kind, generous, and genuinely dedicated to guests. From Luxor to Aswan and Abu Simbel, he organized everything and made our trip so easy. We barely had anything to worry about. He gave honest price advice and recommended trustworthy people. He even helped us shop so we weren’t overcharged, which we really appreciated. We always felt he truly wanted us to have a great experience, not just sell us services. The room was very clean and comfortable, and the welcome was incredibly warm. He also took us across the Nile on his small boat and showed us Elephantine Island, a lovely personal experience. My father received excellent massages during our stay. We traveled as a family and all three of us loved it. What really stood out was that Abu did more than just provide accommodation: he welcomed us warmly, looked after us, helped us navigate Aswan, and made us feel genuinely cared for throughout. I would wholeheartedly recommend Abu Nubian Guest House to anyone visiting Aswan, especially if you want a warm, authentic experience and a host you can trust. We would happily stay here again. Honestly, nothing. We had a wonderful stay and felt very well looked after.
