The majordomo was great—kind, helpful, and always in a good mood. The beach in front of the house was amazing, and swimming in the ocean was excellent. The accommodation was clean with a fantastic ocean view, but we missed having spoons for stirring morning coffee.

The location was excellent—right on a beautiful beach! We booked two rooms on the first floor (British system) with a huge terrace. The villa only has five rooms, so it was fairly quiet, which was what we wanted. Unfortunately, nobody can guarantee that no one with severe alcohol‑induced brain damage will show up, and that did happen. The staff quickly called the police and resolved everything. There were also issues with water pressure in one room, but those were fixed fast. Overall, the staff were very polite and friendly. They offer transfers and tours, and there’s a kitchen on the first floor that you can use. A chef also comes and you can pre‑order meals. Several cafés are within walking distance. The Keels supermarket is a 5‑7 minute walk away. The rooms were cleaned only once during our stay, and only upon request. When we arrived, one of the two rooms we had booked was occupied, so we had to stay one night in a cheaper place, but the host didn’t charge us for that night. With four days left of our vacation, a large group of Czech tourists arrived, and it turned out they had booked our rooms for those dates. We stayed in our rooms anyway, and the host somehow sorted it out with the Czechs, but the situation did give us a bit of nerves.

Worthless. After we checked our reservation, there was still no availability, and this seemed to happen more than once. We had to find something else.

Being the fourth time I stayed at Hanka Villa in the off‑season, I’m completely satisfied. The dreamy location, the tranquility, and the space are simply great. You can walk into the town and experience local life without tourist crowds. A nearby supermarket and a secluded beach right outside the house. Lahiru was my sole “caretaker.” The view of the roaring sea and the palms stays with me until next year.
