Airport & HSR connection
HSR Chiayi Station sits 15 km west of downtown. Free BRT buses 7211 and 7212 connect HSR to the central rail station in 25 minutes if you present an HSR ticket.

A short history
Chiayi began as Zhuluo, a Qing dynasty walled outpost. Japanese colonial rule transformed the town into Taiwan's forestry center after engineers constructed the Alishan Forest Railway in 1912 to extract cypress timber.During the 1930s, the city gained fame through Kagi Agriculture and Forestry School's baseball team. Modern Chiayi preserves its timber heritage through hundreds of surviving wooden structures and creative adaptive reuse projects.
