Shell Island Resort offers all‑oceanfront suites with private terraces, living rooms, sofa beds, and kitchenettes, plus two flat‑screen TVs per unit. Guests enjoy direct beach access, indoor and outdoor pools, a beachfront restaurant, fitness centre, sand‑volleyball court, and on‑site gift shop. Located 16 km from UNC Wilmington, it’s a 15‑minute drive to Airlie Gardens and Mayfaire Town Center, and 20 minutes to downtown Wilmington.

The first room had no heating, the second lacked a TV, and because these rooms are privately owned they were far from clean and very outdated. Only one elevator was operational, and the hot tub’s jets were broken. I won’t be staying again or recommending it.

The ocean‑front room was beautiful with a great view, and the indoor and outdoor pools were close to the beach. From Thursday to Sunday only one elevator worked, and it was crowded, especially with a wedding party.

The location was excellent, but the room was dirty and the pool area needed cleaning. The housekeeping staff didn’t clean properly, and the front desk took forever to explain the bill, which was hard to read.

The view was nice, yet the room was moldy and dirty behind the doors. The elevator broke, the front door entry was broken, food and drinks were overpriced, and the gym was a joke with only two broken machines; it’s not a resort.
