Herdade da Malhadinha Nova - Relais & Châteaux, in Albernoa, is a rural manor surrounded by pristine natural surroundings, 1 km off the IP2 motorway. The hotel features a panoramic pool, spa with hot tub and hammam, and offers free Wi-Fi, bicycles, and private parking. Traditional Alentejo cuisine and self-produced wine are served at the on-site restaurant and bar.

The surroundings were nice, but the resort didn’t live up to the expectations of a lodge and château. The fruit‑flavored drink was overripe and inedible, there was no fridge in the room despite the eco‑friendly claim, and the price was excessively high. Compared to other lodges and châteaus in France, the service quality doesn’t match the cost.

The service, staff, and marketing were excellent, but the rooms felt cramped; the bathrooms clearly need a modern upgrade. We had a tasting of premium wines, yet the price of 80 EUR per person seemed too steep for the quality offered. Overall, the price/quality ratio was poor, so we won’t come back or recommend this resort.

The staff were friendly, especially Ellen and Denis—thanks! The breakfast was five‑star, but the snacks were poor for the price, and the wine tasting had a very limited visit to the vineyards.
