“City break”

I liked staying at Seorak HOT Spring Mammoth Resotel; it's right by the mountains and less than 30 minutes from Sokcho city centre, and the breakfast was good. The place is quiet, perfect if you want to escape city noise, but it feels a bit abandoned because of the surrounding buildings.

“Hôtel vieillissant dans un village fantôme”

The hotel used to be great a few years ago; the rooms are spacious with a small kitchenette, breakfast is self‑served in the basement, and the price is really reasonable even though it's 5 km from the park entrance, which helps avoid traffic if you stayed in Sokcho. The building looks old in a ghost town: the leaning sign, the broken entrance door, the un‑repaired stairs, and the reception area full of objects. The whole village about 5 km on foot from Seoraksan Park is abandoned, with many ruined buildings under the foliage, giving a strange vibe. Some effort seems to be made to revitalize the area, like a beautiful bridge built along the river that snakes up between trees for a nice walk. We hope the buildings get renovated soon.

The location was cheap. In the town on the main road there's a nice café. It lies in a ghost town; the surrounding buildings are empty. It was nasty, messy. The lobby looked like a storage room, dusty, with a sad Christmas tree standing there for years. The room had futon beds but the floor was covered in brown streaks. The bathroom smelled like champions.

“Great value”

The room was big, breakfast solid, and the price was great. The bed was pretty hard, and the towel situation was frustrating.
