“Deep Japan..”

A somewhat old‑school / lost Japan vibe that we really liked on this beautiful, less touristy side of western Izu, especially in autumn. The Japanese breakfast is hearty, there’s a free drinks and aperitif corner, and generous provision of products… nothing is missing and the sea view is sublime. We really enjoyed it. Attention: the breakfast is early! In some areas the hotel needs a serious refresh… the route to the outdoor onsens, the windows, even the mattresses… but for a discovery outside the beaten path it’s not a big deal. If you’re looking for modern perfection, this isn’t it… it’s a little 80’s time warp.

“Don‘t Go”

Stunning views and an outdoor onsen. We stayed two nights for 461 euros and are really disappointed. The whole hotel really needs an upgrade. The entire place is decaying and you can smell it everywhere. 1. Inside onsen/spa – mouldy walls and deteriorating. 2. Rooms – old, furniture peeling, constant mouldy smell requiring two air conditioners and a dehumidifier to keep it off. There used to be an outdoor balcony now rotten (see pictures) and they tried to hide it with a curtain. 3. Dinner/breakfast – I’m from the EU, so I don’t want to judge, but let’s just say 7/11 in 3 minutes away has become my food source. The table cloths are probably clean but stained all over. See pictures. Overall, don’t go here. Waste of 460 euros…

The location is simply fantastic, the view is beautiful, and the open-air onsen offers a dream‑like panorama. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was spacious, and the provided drinks were pleasant. The hotel feels a bit dated and in need of renovation. For us Europeans, the breakfast (just fish) was a bit one‑sided, but that’s partly our taste. A larger selection would still be nice, yet we still felt very comfortable.

“フナムシが大丈夫な人は楽しめる”

The outdoor bath’s location is stunning, and the staff were very kind and helpful. The women’s yukata had many cute varieties to choose from, which was fun. The room was clean with no dust concerns. Playing Jenga was enjoyable. The bath’s scenery was good, but the area near the sea had too many sea urchins, making it hard to relax in the bath. It was a non‑smoking room, yet the nearby smoking area left a tobacco smell. The room was supposed to have insect repellent, but none was present—maybe it was somewhere else?

“Magical”

The hotel was truly beautiful. The atmosphere felt magical with the view from the window, and the staff were super kind and helpful. We loved the room—it was huge and comfortable, with a comfy futon, soft tatami, and plenty of storage, plus a fridge. The food was amazing, from breakfast to dinner. The sashimi was the best and freshest I’ve had on this trip. There were so many self‑service options and so much food that I was stuffed. The onsen was also fantastic, both inside and outside, though I preferred the inside because I’m scared of bugs, haha. If I return to Japan, this trip is worth the money and the beautiful place. Thank you to every staff member who took care of us! The only thing that would push this to a 10/10 is slightly better cleaning and building maintenance. It’s a shame that some items were ruined by water damage, limestone, the ceiling in the onsen, and other things. This place was so beautiful that I know it used to be a luxury hotel; with some maintenance, it could be even more magical.
