“Ojo! No contratar, nos sentimos estafados”

We booked Coral Nest six months ahead through a booking site, only to receive an email the day before saying the hotel had been renamed María Villa. We arrived to find the hotel shut down, looking abandoned, with just a phone to call. The “new” sign had been up for months, so the change wasn’t recent. They told us the hotel was closed and redirected us to another place that was full, then sent us to a third property (3R Resort) that was far worse, insisting they would keep the same price. It felt like a bait‑and‑switch with nice photos, then two inferior options once we were there. After the first night we paid for it and moved to Negombo Cottage on our own. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel at all.

Everything was as described, a hassle‑free check‑in right in the middle of the night. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Everything was good.

The guesthouse itself was cozy and clean, which was a relief after a long day of travel. However, the real problem was the sheer number of mosquitoes in the hall area - it was like a swarm of tiny vampires waiting to pounce. We had to be careful not to get bitten every time we went out or came back in. Despite the minor issue, the place was pleasant enough, and we managed to get some rest.

The hotel's modern shower and bathroom were definite highlights, and the buffet breakfast at a nearby building was super tasty. However, the room was a bit too bright in the mornings, and some blackout curtains would've been a nice touch.

This guesthouse was a great value for the price, and the owner was super friendly and welcoming. We felt right at home, and the location was perfect for exploring the area. We didn't have any major complaints, and we'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a budget-friendly option.
