It’s perfect if you want your own space as a solo traveller without paying a huge premium. It’s a bit of a walk from the centre, but the positives outweigh that drawback. In Atacama you spend most of the day outside and return for a comfortable night’s sleep or a slow start to the day.

The room was clean and comfortable. The parking was spacious. There’s a great restaurant right next door (la tribo del indio) with home‑cooked food that’s well seasoned; they were the best meals we had in San Pedro! I highly recommend it. It was hard to heat the shower water; you had to fiddle with the tap several times. The kitchen isn’t fully equipped—only a fridge and dishes. You can’t heat water or toast bread or prepare any food, which was a big missing point for me. It limited our meals because we didn’t get along with the restaurants and wanted simple food to avoid any discomfort that would interfere with our outings. But Alvaro did offer hot water for tea one cold night.

“Lovely comfortable stay!”

The room was lovely, clean, comfortable, and quiet, and Alvaro was really helpful with any questions or needs; breakfast was a great addition, as was a packed lunch on tour days. The location is about a 10‑minute walk from Caracoles, so I’d definitely come back! Unfortunately, the hot shower was an issue the first couple of days, but Alvaro fixed it quickly, likely because of the rainy weather; it improved by the last day.

Álvaro and Dona Célia were fantastic, taking care of everything I needed. Álvaro would prepare snacks for me to take when the tours started early. The place is totally quiet for rest! It’s a bit far from the center, but in return there’s no noise.
