Located in the foothills of the western fells of the Lake District, Irton Hall is a 14th-century estate with traditional timber framing and modern amenities. The location is excellent, the staff fantastic, and the food great. The bathroom looked tired and could use some modernization.

The location is lovely, the grounds are great, and since I have a dog it was wonderful to walk him there. The bedroom was clean and tidy but I think it needs an update.

An amazing, out‑of‑the‑way retreat—I wish I’d booked for longer. There were peacocks in the grounds, forest all around, wow! I had to travel to a pub for the midweek stay, but that was no real issue; the bridge was fantastic food and very friendly.
