We missed the front desk closing time, so they slipped our key into a safe box outside the office and gave us the code, which we really appreciated; the rooms were also extremely clean.

“A basic room that met my basic needs.”

The location is good, the windows open front and back for airflow, there’s a pub on site, plenty of parking, the price is reasonable, it’s pet‑friendly, close to the highway and to Tim Hortons. However, the bathroom window has no screen or curtain on the clear glass, the desk chair is too big for the space, and I had to crawl on my knees under the desk to find an outlet—there aren’t enough outlets. I suspect a long‑term tenant smokes marijuana outside daily, and the odor is horrible. No staff were on duty overnight, wake‑up calls aren’t available until 8 am, there used to be smoking in the room, there’s no alarm clock, the old AC unit is hard to operate because the dials aren’t clear, and I couldn’t figure out how to use the TV.

On the first night, the room next door kept playing until 12:30 am and the walls are thin—earplugs were a must. I checked with the desk the next morning to confirm we’d had the same neighbors, and they were checking out, so that was a relief. The old window‑type AC units let the neighbors’ smoke drift into our room, and the smoking buckets outside the doors were a problem. Our room smelled musty and cigarette‑like, with burn holes in the carpet. They’re trying to freshen things up, but it’s hard to turn a sow’s ear into a silk purse.

“Avoid if possible.”

The location is good and, contrary to what some reviews say, noise wasn’t an issue during our four‑day stay. It’s not clean, though: my feet turned black after walking on the main area carpet, corners, windows, window sills, and other surfaces were dirty, the freezer in the fridge was full of frost and unusable, the mattresses were lopsided, and parking was problematic when another vehicle parked directly in front of our walk‑up room. I have disabilities, explained this to the proprietor, yet my concerns were ignored, especially after receiving an email on the day of our late arrival that said: “You can park right in front of your room.”

“overall decent stay . building showing it's age and some new paint would be nice. the grey laclustre”

The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, but the door closures to the room and downstairs could do their job better and be quieter.
