Parachilna Overflow Accommodation

“Will be back.”

I loved everything: the rooms were beautifully laid out with everything you need plus a metal kettle, the little details and the big ones were all perfect; we stayed in the overflow accommodation, the art in the restaurant was beautiful, the food was excellent, the staff were excellent, and everything was perfect.

“Would have enjoyed if we had the accommodation that we had booked two months earlier.”

The Praire Hotel had an outdoor fire heater and an outback vibe, and there was a bowl of chips. We had booked for 4th July 2026 and my friend Liz Koch paid $195 for accommodation, but when we arrived on 9th September (2 months later) they said they had overbooked and that we had to move to a lesser accommodation; this was a real shock because the toilets were outside and the shower was outside in a shared facility, I was sick with a cold and it was not good for my friend trying to sleep with me coughing.

“The recent rains had closed all the gorges so there wasn’t much to do around Parachilna”

The dinner at Prairie Hotel was really tasty, and watching the sunset from the terrace was a highlight. After dark, though, there wasn’t much to do besides head to the pub – a fire pit would have made for a nicer evening of drinks and conversation with other guests.

The cabin looked nice at first glance, but it could have been cleaner. The bins outside were overflowing, attracting flies, and the floor inside had a noticeable odor. A few spots in the unit were a bit grubby, which put a damper on the stay.

The place is clean and comfortable, but there’s no breakfast included. For what you pay, it feels a bit pricey given the basic amenities.
