Casa Dos Varais, Manor House, a restored 18th‑century manor on the Douro River, offers classical‑styled rooms with parquet floors, high ceilings, and private baths. Guests enjoy a daily continental breakfast, a sun terrace with vineyard‑grown wines, and a dining room serving local cuisine. Gardens, vineyards, hiking, and canoeing surround the property, while Douro Museum, Régua station, and Lamego Castle are nearby.

We had a wonderful stay at Quinta Dos Varais. The property and its surrounding gardens were peaceful and lovely, the staff and owners were very friendly, and the house itself was magical to stay in. I couldn’t recommend it more if you’re in the area! We didn’t eat dinner there, but the breakfast was delicious and fresh. There was nothing to dislike.

The dinners were exceptional and the grounds delightful. Laksme is a wonderful person and host; she made sure everything was perfect.

The staff and owners did everything they could for us, so they were pleasant and welcoming. The views are stunning and the property is truly unique. The only minor downside is that, because of its age, there is no air conditioning. A good fan in our room, however, made it less of an issue than we expected.

The room was very nice, the historic atmosphere, and the whole complex is basically built into a vineyard with a beautiful garden. The breakfast was tasty with homemade items. It worked well for the two of us adults, but it might not be as suitable for smaller children.
