Iconic building and much needed refit. A little road noise. Parking was difficult to locate better info prior to arrival. Some road noise, very noisy residents in our second night shouting in corridor at 4.30am

The place is in a great spot, clean, tidy, and well presented. The staff were polite and attentive, and the room was really good. I appreciated the birthday upgrade. The bathroom is massive, with a separate shower and bath—really nice. Housekeeping was very friendly and swapped a faulty kettle with a smile. Overall a very pleasant stay. The restaurant, however, was not great: it took 45 minutes for a drink to arrive, and then we were told there would be a long wait for food because the bar downstairs was busy. The bar got priority over the three booked restaurant tables, which was not great. Katie, the waitress, was sweet and tried to handle it as best she could. We ended up canceling our order because the delay was too long. It would have been nice if the 45‑minute drink had been comped, but that didn’t happen. It was a little disappointing for my birthday, though Katie was very apologetic. Parking was rather expensive, but I understand it’s because of the location.

The spot is perfect—just a few hundred yards from the train station—and the bedroom is huge and super cozy. The team was friendly and helpful, and the food and breakfast were amazing. Nothing else to complain about.

Good location, great breakfast and friendly staff. The room had a really bad smell of sewage in the bathroom, actually coming from the shower.We placed a towel over the plug hole to stop the smell
