The staff and location were great, but the room was unbearably cold and they wouldn’t turn on the heating!

The hotel sits opposite the gondola line and has huge potential, but it’s sadly neglected. The décor feels like it’s from a previous era, the equipment is worn, and the breakfast was awful 🤮.

The pool and the food

The location is fine, but the hotel hasn’t been renovated since the dawn of Communism. Prices match other pricey hotels, yet you get an incredibly uncomfortable bed in a room where everything is falling apart. Photos don’t show the true atmosphere. At reception we visited three times, each time having to ring the bell because no one was there. The only place with good service was the spa area, where a truly polite lady was present. In the bathroom the hairdryer hangs about 180 cm above the floor. The bathtub curtain is old and looks unclean, even if it isn’t. Tile grout is a patchwork of colors, and all tiled surfaces have cracks or chips. The carpet in the room is lumpy, with bumps every 25–30 cm. The mattresses are extremely uncomfortable and the springs literally poke you. Only one power outlet works in the room, aside from the TV’s. Mold smells permeate everywhere. The terrace has no cover at all. Breakfast matches the overall experience. Aside from the very good location—which, given Borovets’ size, isn’t all that important—nothing else justifies the price.
