It was good value for the money, the room was clean and comfortable, but the heating system wasn’t on even though it was October, so the first night was quite cold; I asked about it the next day and they gave me a space heater.

I was pleasantly surprised by the architecture and design of this 1950s‑era motel, reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright with its brickwork and long flat angles – a real treat staying in a 50s design museum. A microwave would be handy, but might ruin the vibe; there is one in the coffee room. Being old and frail, the long walk from the front lobby to the room was tiring, though there are no stairs or heavy doors to deal with.

The hotel sits in Collingwood and is easy to get to, but the check‑in was a bit rough because the clerk wasn’t at the desk when I arrived and we had to call him, which delayed us. The room was somewhat small and sparse, but that’s fine for me and it met my expectations.

The price and location are great, and it’s close to a friend’s place, so I’ll probably return when I visit again. The extra blanket they provided was super soft and amazing, and there were plenty of TV channels. However, the front desk took a while to come out and check us in, and the TV screen quality was a bit poor.
